- Our Culture
At Right at Home, culture is not a statement on a wall. It is how we treat each other, how we lead and how we show up every day.
We are proud to be a family-founded organisation. Our Chairman, Ken Deary, built Right at Home on a simple principle: treat people well and never compromise on quality. That belief continues to shape everything we do.
High standards and kindness belong together. Professionalism and warmth are not opposites. They work side by side.
Our culture is built on responsibility, respect and genuine care for the people who make our work possible.
People First, Always
Exceptional care begins with supported, valued professionals.
Our Carers are the heart of our organisation. They are skilled individuals who bring empathy, patience and professionalism into people’s homes every day. We recognise the emotional and practical demands of their role, which is why we invest in structured training, ongoing development and meaningful support.
When our teams feel respected and confident, our Clients feel it too.
That is how culture shapes the care we provide across the UK.
“Collectively, we pride ourselves on going the extra mile and we recognise that our care teams are the life-blood of our business, so we do everything possible to make them feel valued and well-supported for the amazing work they do.”
Ken Deary, Chairman, Right at Home UK
Our values guide every conversation, every decision and every care experience. They shape how we work together and how we support Clients and their families to live well at home.
Trust
We build trust through honesty, reliability, and taking responsibility for what we do. People know they can depend on us for life-enriching care.
Quality
We take pride in our work and hold ourselves to the same standards we would expect if our own loved ones needed care. People can rely on us to deliver exceptional support, every day.
Compassion
We provide care that puts people first. Our approach is thoughtful, kind, and free from judgement, recognising what matters most to each individual.
Respect
We create an inclusive culture where everyone is valued and treated with dignity. We celebrate what brings us together whilst accepting our differences, creating an environment where people feel able to be themselves.
Across our network, we work hard to ensure that every office reflects these principles in daily practice.
Homecare is a skilled and regulated profession. Every Right at Home office is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England, the Care Inspectorate in Scotland, or the Care Inspectorate Wales. We take that responsibility seriously.
We are proud of our regulatory track record and our recognition as a Five Star Employer. These achievements reflect more than compliance. They reflect a culture that refuses to cut corners.
Quality is made tangible through how we work.
Before care begins, we carry out a professional assessment to understand needs, preferences and risks. From there, we create a detailed Care & Support Plan tailored to the individual.
We carefully match Clients and Carers to build long-lasting, trusting relationships. Compatibility matters. Shared interests, communication style and personality are considered, because strong relationships lead to better outcomes.
We maintain close communication with families and, where appropriate, healthcare professionals to ensure care remains aligned and consistent. Accurate, up-to-date records are kept securely and are accessible to those involved in supporting the Client.
If a Client or family member ever feels that a change is needed, one phone call to the local office is all it takes. We respond quickly and professionally, because reassurance matters.
Inclusive and Supportive
We promote a culture where colleagues and Clients can be themselves.
We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We value difference and believe diverse perspectives strengthen our teams. Every individual deserves dignity, fairness and opportunity.
Our local offices are rooted in their communities while benefiting from national expertise and guidance. This balance creates stability, connection and shared purpose across Right at Home UK.
Within that culture, both care professionals and Clients thrive.
Leadership That Listens
Strong culture depends on clear and consistent leadership at every level of the organisation.
Across our local offices, Registered Managers provide day-to-day leadership, setting expectations, supporting their teams and ensuring high standards of care are maintained. At National Office, our Senior Leadership Team provides strategic direction, governance and oversight to support the wider network.
Together, they are visible, accountable and accessible. They apply the same standards to themselves as they expect from others, listen carefully, make informed decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
When challenges arise, they are addressed promptly and transparently. When progress is made, the contribution of teams is recognised.
Leadership at Right at Home is focused on maintaining standards, supporting colleagues and ensuring that our values are reflected in everyday practice across the entire network.
Why Our Culture Matters
Families place their trust in us at vulnerable moments in their lives. That trust cannot be assumed. It must be earned, protected and strengthened every day.
Our culture sets the standard for how we deliver care. It shapes how we listen, how we respond and how we act when it matters most. It gives our Carers the confidence to take pride in their work and the clarity to uphold high expectations without compromise.
As we grow, that culture keeps us consistent. It ensures that quality does not dilute and that standards do not slip.
We believe care should add richness to everyday life, not simply manage risk. That belief starts within our organisation and carries through every visit, every conversation and every relationship.
